    HALF DEAD LIVES YET AGAIN
HALF DEAD, “Certified Cool” by Diamond’s PREVIEWS, originally published by Marvel Comics and Dabel Brothers Productions, and stalled due to legal complications between those two companies, is once again available for orders from Diamond’s PREVIEWS through Desperado Publishing.

Combining the chills of modern horror with the excitement of cinematic action, written by the husband-wife team of Barbara Lien-Cooper and Park Cooper and drawn by Jimmy Bott (Government Bodies), Half Dead tells of two conspiracies, human and vampire, fighting for control of London with gas attacks, suicide options, religious icons, and inhuman science used by both sides to keep their pawns alive and fighting whether they want to or not. A ballerina comes back from certain death changed into something new. Rather than fight in the covered-up war she finds herself in, most people would rather run, or die. Since she's not a person anymore, though, there's only one way out… to destroy all vampires.

"As if the tube wasn't already edgy enough, what with suicide bombers and police execution squads... now we have terrorist vampires to contend with too. But at least the victims of vampire gas attacks are rendered only half dead and get their chance to join in the fun. Intelligently written and well-drawn, this book promises opportunities not only for fast-paced entertainment, but also a darker ironic subtext to the 'long war' of the 21st century."
    --Jamie Delano (Animal Man, Hellblazer)

Well, Half Dead continues on... I often hear about Half Dead being sold out at comic book stores -- just ask the store to order a copy for you. Since the distribution is through Marvel, they should be able to get it for you quite quickly (especially if we're talking about North America).

And speaking of North America, the other day I wanted a list of cons for the next 12 or so months, arranged by date, and I couldn't find one, so I made one. Since I felt this could be useful to others, too, I thought I'd post it here. Enjoy.

Any time at all, any time at all, any time at all, all you've gotta do is call and I'll be there.
If you need somebody to love, just look into my eyes, I'll be there to make you feel right.
If you're feeling sorry and sad, I'd really sympathize.
Don't you be sad, just call me tonight.
Any time at all, any time at all, any time at all, all you've gotta do is call and I'll be there.
If the sun has faded away, I'll try to make it shine, there's nothing I won't do
If you need a shoulder to cry on I hope it will be mine.
Call me tonight, and I'll come to you.
Any time at all, any time at all, any time at all, all you've gotta do is call and I'll be there.
Any time at all, all you've gotta do is call and I'll be there.

Barb: "Look at this laundry list of things he can do for you! Gentle, sweet... even Buddy Holly, the closest thing to a sensitive white male before that, didn't quite say these kinds of things... rock and roll said men should dress in leather and be tough... that's not abuot getting the girl... look at the approach. It totally changes the male-female dynamic. It was all male, then Buddy died and Elvis went in the army and Little Richard found Jesus and what the Beatles did was the great androgyny, all these girl group songs say I don't want some macho Elvis type, I want some guy where I will get the type of man I want... then the Beatles come around and say 'Fair enough! But will you call me in the morning?' They start a relationship with you. Walking along the beach at night, arguing, the good and bad stuff... and starts actually making this male-female dialog that modern music critics have called worthless because they judge it by how it defines manhood instead of personhood. You can't sing a song unless it does something for you and you can't write a song unless you're at least behind it in theory. They changed the dynamics of sexual politics. What the critics didn't get is there's no difference between the love songs and their other songs. It's all love. It's not like they just became enlightened. They were all love and peace and soldier of love, since they covered that... "

    http://www.eagleawards.co.uk/nominate.asp

So I go to nominate people for the Eagle Awards, which now have this handy pull-down menu format, and there's Gun Street Girl, just sitting and waiting for me, right there under "web-based comics!" Who knows if it'll make it to the end, but wouldn't it be nice?

    http://www.panel2panel.com/gsg-archives.html

If you haven't already (or lately), please, read for yourself and see if you don't feel that this comic has work worth voting for.

Also, if you don't want to vote for anyone else, you're allowed to leave a category blank... However, I feel that as nice as it would be of you to vote just for Gun Street Girl and nothing else, it's your duty to vote in as many categories as you can stand to look through. Sure, maybe you don't care about who wins in a certain category, but that's not how a democracy should work! Let's set a good example for the world again! Don't waste your opportunities to vote!

    Sigh
You know, I need to let go of things. I get fixated sometimes on "Irritate ME, will ya?!? Oh, A wise guy, eh???" and I need to just let those behaviors go. It'll be best for me in the long run.

    Martial Arts
Today I realized (or else I figured it out long ago, forgot, and then figured it out again today): Martial Arts. The arts of war, from MARS, the god of war. MARtial. Relating to Mars. Get it? Is that a mind-blower or what?

I dunno, maybe I'm easily impressed.

So Martial Law, for that matter, is Law During Wartime. And so on.

    I'm still impressed.
